Swinging 60's (ref S8394) was created on behalf of Messer. A. Wilson & Son, fellow jacquard weaver from the town of Silsden.
Silsden, near Keighley in West Yorkshire had approx. 20 weaving Mills, a large number of Jacquard weavers employing most of the town inhabitants in the 1960s.

E&S Smith took on commission weaving work in the 1960-70’s and were often contracted by other weavers to develop new construction styles of fabrics by larger factories who had no development teams. Bentley Walbank in nearby Bingley created the design point paper from a sketch. Senior Designer Keith D Wilkinson logged 10 hours for the painting of the point paper which was in 3 sections and notes that 3 ladies; Joyce B, Elaine and Susan took a total of 4 hours to cut and lace the perforated loom cards.
