Whit Hill Point Paper
Date: 1953
Origin: Blackburn, UK.
The original point paper (ref WB64) is from jacquard fabric weaver Wm Birtwistle (Damask) Ltd, Great Harwood, Lancashire. This design was drawn up on 29th June 1953.
Bradford based Jacquard design firm Walbank & Parkin drew up the artwork and transferred the artwork on to point paper which they then used to read and cut jacquard loom cards for weaver Wm. Birtwistle(Damask) ltd. The size of our original point paper weaving instruction is 36 inches x 72inches. The resulting cloth design is 6inches wide and 12 inches long! The whole process from the artwork to finished fabric took several weeks and many different skills.
