Chinoiserie Point Paper
Date: Est. 1924-36
Origin: East Germany.
This print (ref AH3324) is from an original point paper drawn up on 2 large point papers. The work was done in the 1930’s in East Germany. The Mill and designer are not known.
This archive was purchased in Como by E&S Smith of Bradford UK in 1998 from an International Textile salvage specialist. This piece was part of a large collection from East Germany that was discovered in 1989 just after the unification of East and West Germany.
The point paper was utilised by E&S Smith to produce a lampas fabric and also a high-end satin sateen furnishing. Both fabrics sold well in New York (Duralee-Lampas) and upon high end furniture made in the UK (Duresta -high end satin)
