The featured design, ref 6244 was drawn just before World War 1 in July 1914 for the French Jacquard furnishing fabric weaver Vanoutryve. They were based in Roubaix, close to the trenches. The back of the work is marked with a signature O. Goethale who we believe was the Mill’s senior textile designer at this time. Other work we have seen was signed by the same person in 1922.

Our 100% Silk Scarves have been printed using high definition digital scans of the original archive point paper. We have used CAD to enhance the scarf edges but have left the technicians hand written notes and numbers. The odd fold and wear and tear in the original paper was unavoidable so is reproduced too!
