Origin: Vanoutryve Factory, Roubaix, France.
The original point paper (ref VAN8039) is from Roubaix, France. The point paper was purchased by Richard M R Smith in 2018 from part of the archive of the French weaver Vanoutryve. Velvet and tapestry specialists Vanoutryve were based in Roubaix where they manufactured for over 100 years.
This artwork was drawn up by experienced designer J. Plaitain in October 1936. Company records show that this artist was employed at the Mill in 1897. Not too much moving from job to job in those days!
