O. Goethale posies (design ref 6244) was drawn up in July 1914 in Roubaix, France at Jacquard furnishing fabric weaver Vanoutryve.
The talented designer was O.Goethale who was responsible for numerous jacquard designs for the company prior to the outbreak of World War I.
We were pleased to discover other work by the designer in the firm's archive, dating 1923 which was when they returned to work at the rebuilt factory after the war. It does seem incongruous that such beautiful work was still being created a few weeks before the 1st world war trenches were built a few miles from the factory in Roubaix.
