Jacobean Point Paper
Date: Est 1924-36
Origin: East Germany
This point paper (ref 3260) was purchased by jacquard fabric weaver E&S Smith of Odsal Bradford in Como, Italy in 2000.
This item was part of a collection ‘discovered’ after the reunification of East and West Germany in 1989. The collection was found by returning family members at their family Mill premises which was still locked up and boarded as left by their fleeing relatives in East Germany.
It is estimated that this design was drawn up between 1926 and 1935 to produce a Tapestry fabric. This technical point paper design detail could enable Jacquard weavers today to reproduce this design on ‘their’ fabric.
