  • Our limited edition Giclée print ref HP9893 is a high-resolution reproduction from an original 1970s artwork for a woven Jacquard fabric. The art was created as part of the process that wove the pattern into fabric.

There are interesting notations relating to the weaves, pattern repeat and technical notes for the fabric thread settings. A small insight into the fashion of the day and the weavers' loom sets.

The original art was acquired from the archive of weaver Herbert Green, Silsden, West Yorkshire, UK when the company ceased trading in the early 2000s. The artwork was used in the 1970s by textile design company Walbank and Parkin of Bradford, who generated the jacquard loom cards the weaver required. The design may have been painted by one of Walbank and Parkin's employees or by an independent designer working on their behalf or for the weaver, Herbert Green. It is also possible that the artwork was commissioned by the weavers' end fabric wholesale customer who sold fabrics!
Quite a back story for this brightly coloured artwork
